How to Turn Your iPhone Into a Virtual Golf Club

How many things do you use your iPhone for? You can add virtual golf club to the list with the introduction of GeoPlay Golf, a new iPhone golf application that takes advantage of the iPhone’s GPS capabilities to create virtual golf courses based on the players real world coordinates. Using the iPhone’s motion sensor, players actively use their real golf swing through grass, traps and water hazards on traditional or themed courses for instant entertainment on the go.

The GeoPlay Golf iPhone app will now allow you to practice your golf swing virtually anywhere. Create a course around your house, at the office, or on a real golf course. You can use the iPhone’s GPS feature to create a virtual tee and golf hole locations using real space or play one of five virtual world courses include traditional and fantasy options such as the moon, a snow village and a beautiful farm with 15 course choices.

The GeoPlay Golf iPhone app also analyzes swing strength using iPhone accelerometers and ball direction on three planes, calculating length of shot as well as hook or slice, allowing you to swing the phone like a club. It even uses Google maps to give you accurate view of your golf course.

GeoPlay Golf is optimized for the current generation of iPhones. First generation iPhone and iPod Touch allows for play without the GPS feature.

    I tried this game is it’s fun. I set up a course around my neighborhood and played the game while walking my dog. The courses look really good and the GPS works very well and is very accurate. This game is great cause it lets me get outside and get some exercise while still playing a game. I’m going to try it on a golf course. Hey you should turn up the brightness on the iPhone to make it easier to see in the daylight. If you do that its easy to see. I had trouble seeing the screen in the full sun until I did that. Also the swing controls are really good once you get used to them. It is helping me to get more consistent with my swing. Highly recommended, more than a just an iPhone game.
