National Golf Scramble Championship to Prevent Heart Disease

HEART_OFTHE_GREENSign up to play in the 2012 National Scramble Championship Presented by Heart of the Green, which will take place at golf courses across the United States this summer. The first part of this major national amateur golf event is a four-person scramble, contested over three 18-hole rounds. Qualifying dates for the tournament are May 1st through July 15th. Teams that advance to the next stage can add a PGA Professional as a fifth member for both the sectionals and finals, which will take place in Orlando, Florida.

This event is for a great cause, benefitting the Heart of the Green, who’s mission is to provide information, awareness and response to heart disease. Heart disease kills over 800,000 people each year, with most of those deaths coming from sudden cardiac arrest and heart attacks.

90% of these heart-related deaths are “out of hospital” events, which are helplessly witnessed by a family member, friend or bystander. As part of this event, Heart of the Green will be donating automated external defibrillators (AED machines) to participating local qualifier golf facilities. Heart of the Green will also be registering tournament participants for CPR and AED training.

Participants in the 2012 National Scramble Championship Presented by Heart of the Green will receive great entry gifts for each round and compete against clubs across the nation. Each team will also helping their club and community reduce the amount of deaths from sudden cardiac arrests and heart attacks.
