Bridgestone Golf is helping raise awareness and funds for the National Kidney Foundation by becoming the official golf ball of the 2012 National Kidney Foundation Cadillac Golf Classic. Bridgestone Golf will be providing more than $50,000 worth of golf balls to competitors in this nationwide tournament that features 35 local charity golf events and a national final at Pebble Beach.
The National Kidney Foundation Cadillac Golf Classic Tournament is expected to attract 4,000 golfers at golf courses throughout the United States. The goal of the event is to raise $4 million for the Foundation and to help increase awareness of kidney disease and the need for organ donation.
“Kidney disease affects 26 million Americans so we are happy to do our part in helping to raise awareness and funds for this important cause,” said Dan Murphy, Vice President of Marketing, Bridgestone Golf. The National Kidney Foundation helps provide early detection screenings and other vital community services. The organization also conducts extensive public and professional education, helping to support organ donation kidney research to identify new treatments.
Risk factors for kidney disease include high blood pressure, diabetes and family history of these conditions and kidney disease. More than 85,000 people are currently waiting for a kidney transplant.
