GolfNetCharity.com is a new online resource that enables organizations to host nationwide charity golf tournaments online, opening up the potential pool of golfers beyond a specific geographical location. Virtual Charity Golf Outings Have Arrived

To help protect consumers and stop this disturbing trend, some of the top names in the golf club business are working are working together through an anti-counterfeiting group. The Golf Anti-Counterfeiting Group was formed in 2004 and consists of five of the top golf club manufacturers in the world — Callaway-Odyssey and Top-Flite; TaylorMade-adidas Golf and Ashworth; PING; Cleveland Golf, Srixon and Never Compromise; and Acushnet Company whose brands are Titleist, FootJoy and Scotty Cameron.

This organization works with international law enforcement authorities to crack down on counterfeit operations. Last year, the Golf Anti-Counterfeiting Group helped police seize more than 80,000 counterfeit golf products.

This past week, the Golf Anti-Counterfeiting Group announced that a preliminary injunction issued in Florida will shut down over 175 websites that are currently selling counterfeit golf products. In January, the Group also helped close an additional 60 counterfeit websites, helping to protecting consumers from unknowingly purchasing fake golf equipment.

Counterfeit merchandise sold has included golf clubs, golf balls and golf accessories. The Golf Anti-Counterfeiting Group is also working to help educate those who purchase golf equipment on how to spot and avoid fake golf products through its website, www.keepgolfreal.com.

Are Your Golf Clubs Fake Counterfeit?

Taking advantage of their new equipment purchases, golfers have taken to the course lately in larger numbers with the number of rounds played on American golf courses climbing for four straight months through February. The mild winter weather throughout much of the country has certainly helped, along with a drop in unemployment figures and a slowly strengthening economy.

Rounds played throughout the United States dropped over the past few years as unemployment rose to 10 percent in 2009. This year, the country’s unemployment rate has dropped to 8.3 percent in January and February, while more than 220,000 jobs were added per month in December, January and February.

Even private golf clubs are finally starting to see signs of recovery. In 2011, the largest owner and operator of private golf clubs, Dallas-based ClubCorp, sold its most memberships since 2005. The company, which operates golf courses in 26 states, bought four more courses last year and is looking for more opportunities in 2012.

Golf Event Helps Save Greyhounds

In 2006, Belen Mozo won the British Girls’ Amateur Championship and the British Ladies Open Amateur Championship, becoming the first woman to win both titles in the same year since 1972. That same year Mozo also represented Spain at the 2006 World Amateur Team Championships.

Belen earned a scholarship to play golf for University of Southern California and became a four-time All-American. She won the 2008 NCAA National Championship and turned professional in 2010.

Belen Mozo was featured in ESPN The Magazine’s 2011 Body Issue. She credits her parents and family life growing up for her athletic body. Mozo’s parents established her nutrition and diet plans early on, allowing soda only once a week and never bringing candy into their house. She also eats a lot of fruit and always stays active, running, playing basketball and riding horses.

Belen Mozo met her current boyfriend, tennis player Robert Farah, while at USC. Both Farah and Mozo hail from Spain and turned professional in their respective sports upon graduation from college.

Who is Belen Mozo?

This event is for a great cause, benefitting the Heart of the Green, who’s mission is to provide information, awareness and response to heart disease. Heart disease kills over 800,000 people each year, with most of those deaths coming from sudden cardiac arrest and heart attacks.

90% of these heart-related deaths are “out of hospital” events, which are helplessly witnessed by a family member, friend or bystander. As part of this event, Heart of the Green will be donating automated external defibrillators (AED machines) to participating local qualifier golf facilities. Charity Golf International Helps Drive Fund Raising

This year Natalie Gulbis is taking her fame to new levels with an appearance in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Gulbis became one of the first athletes to pose for Sports Illustrated in nothing but body paint.

According to a recent report, Gulbis may also be using her Sports Illustrated appearance to help bring attention to a charity auction benefiting the Palisades Episcopal School in Charlotte, NC. A auction contest will allow fans to bid for the chance to caddy for Gulbis during an upcoming LPGA event.

Gulbis has a lengthy history of charitable involvement, including a 2009 appearance on Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice”, which benefitted the Boys and Girls Club. She was fired from the show after task 8, with Joan Rivers eventually being crowned the winner.

In a recent interview, Gulbis indicated that it took 13 hours to paint the golf-themed bikini on her for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. The LPGA Tour has been supportive of Natalie’s appearance in the magazine and is excited to have one of their players receive such recognition.

Natalie Gulbis Swimsuit Photos for Charity

Woods is already commited to play with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, with whom Woods shared a round at Torrey Pines in 2008. Whether Woods would play with Romo or Tebow is still up in the air.

Tebow grew up playing golf in the Jacksonville, Florida area. He played golf a couple years ago with four-time major champion Phil Mickelson at a nearby golf course the week of THE PLAYERS Championship. The Broncos’ quarterback also hosts his own golf tournament, the Tim Tebow Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic. Tebow also has some experience playing with PGA Tour players as he participated in the pro-am of the St. Jude FedEx Classic last year.

PGATour.com speculation is Woods could be paired with Romo, while Tebow would play with another PGA professional. One player who might make sense playing with Tebow would be fellow University of Florida alum Camilo Villegas.

The 2012 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro Am takes place from February 6-12. D.A. Points is the defending champion along with his celebrity partner, Bill Murray.
