He is the founder of SMT Golf Outing Services, which has helped raise over $2,500,000 for more than 300 charities, groups and corporations. SMT Golf Outing Services became Tait’s inspired mission after losing his mother to cancer in the spring of 2009. Mike focused the memory of his mother towards helping charities by revolutionizing the traditional golf outing with what has become his groundbreaking system of entertainment and fundraising.

Mike Tait’s success in helping golf events comes from his unique background in the golf industry. A 32-year PGA professional, Mike is also the owner of SMT Golf, a leading golf club manufacturing company that has produced six RE/MAX World Long Drive Champions and over 300 worldwide long drive champions in eleven countries.

While working as a club professional, Mike was exposed to the intricacies and nuances of managing successful golf events. As he helped manage and run thousands of events, Mike became convinced that the traditional golf outing model was becoming less efficient and lacked engagement and excitement for casual golfers. Golf courses, outings, charities and golfers were simply experiencing less success and having less fun with their golf events.

Golf Club Manufacturer Honors American Patriots

SMT GOLFSMT Golf has made its name as manfacturer of the longest clubs on any tour. Now they’re transitioning their distance on the course to supporting an even larger cause.

For a limited time, SMT Golf is offering its Durometer Series wedges with a portion of the proceeds going to the Folds of Honor Foundation that provides scholarships to children and spouses of military personnel killed or disabled in the service of the country. The SMT Golf Patriotic Wedge, which will be available until May 3, features an American flag engraved on it and comes with a red, white and blue Golf Pride Patriot grip.

“We’re trying to give back as much as we can,” SMT Golf owner Mike Tait said. “We send golf balls, candy and magazines over (to military personnel) and we’re involved with Toys for Tots. We’re always trying to give back.”

The Durometer Series wedges, which have been used by Nationwide Tour players, come in six different lofts. The SMT Golf Patriotic Wedge sells for $99. A line or two lines of custom engraving are available as well, at $12 and $19 respectively.

SMT also has a golf outings company that is planning similar promotions to raise money to fight breast cancer and prostate cancer.
