What better place for our nation’s leaders to come together than on the golf course? New Speaker of the House John Boehner (R) of Ohio recently challenged President Barack Obama to a round of golf. Mr. Boehner accentuated the challenge by implying his skill level may be higher than the President’s – “I’m sure I’ll have to give him strokes,” said Boehner on Fox News Sunday.
Boehner is probably right as he plays golf a lot and has the tan to prove it. He hit the links over 120 times last year and his handicap bounces between a 5 and an 8. The President plays roughly half the rounds as Boehner.
Outgoing Obama advisor David Axelrod said recently that a golf meeting between the two is likely to happen. The match could happen where Boehner is a member at Wetherington Golf & Country Club in West Chester, Ohio or look for the challenge on the links to occur at Congressional Country Club some time in the next few months.
