Chicago-based Wilson Golf made news recently by resigning Padraig Harrington as a Wilson Staff Advisory Member. Harrington has had a long relationship with Wilson Golf, including winning three major championships. Harrington finished the 2011 season ranked 78th in the world and 89th in the FedEx Cup standings, not a great season by a player of Harrington’s caliber. However, both Harrington and Wilson feel good about 2012 after the company recently announced their new line of golf equipment.
Wilson Golf just introduced their new new FG Tour V2 and Ci11 irons along with new golf balls. The clubmakers at Wilson Golf worked with their staff of TOUR players on the design, including Harrington, Ricky Barnes and Kevin Streelman.
With a thinner topline and less offset, the V2 irons feature a classic setup that should produce added forgiveness. The black Ci11 irons are geared toward for golfers who are looking for both power and forgiveness. The PVD finish reduces the visual size of the golf club head, diminishing glare at address. The Ci11’s thinner, harder face promotes the maximum CT allowed by the USGA for stronger golf ball flight and increased distance.
Wilson also introduced the FG Tour X Golf Ball, which is a multilayer urethane ball. Somewhat similar in design to the Titleist Pro V1x, the Wilson FG Tour X golf ball delivers exceptional distance, shot-stopping spin and Tour caliber feel.
